Hello all

Hello all.
Apologies for yet another large gap between posts.  We had a few urgent things that needed to be resolved and then we went on holiday. YIPEE.
I would say we went to sunny St Ives - but it wasn't awfully sunny. But it was still great to have a break.  So here are a few photos from our break:
View from the beach in St Ives
 Porthgwidden Beach
 View from Tintagel Castle
And below are 3 photos taken of the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway

Holiday

Hello all.
Apologies for the lack of recent posts, but we've been on holiday.  So, I thought you might like to see some photos of my holiday.
The beaches in Tenby were amazing.

So it was great for a paddle.
We had a really lovely meal at the Ocean Restaurant.

On our way back we stopped in Hereford at a really great b&b called No 21. It was relatively close to the centre of Hereford so when we'd parked up we walked into Hereford to look at the cathedral.  I knew it would be interesting to look around, but it was even better than I expected.  If you ever get the chance, do go.
As there was an ordination service taking place we started with a cuppa and a sit down in the cloister garden.

We then went to the museum where the Mappa Mundi is on display.  Obviously I couldn't take any photos there.
After the service we did look around the cathedral - here are some photos.  If you do go, have a look at the textiles, there are lots scattered around the place.
So, now I'm back at home and hope to get back to being creative again very soon.
Take care all and promise to post again soon.

Bit of a contrast.
I have been busy whilst I haven't been posting and I promise I'll do my best to post regularly.  I've had fun a quite a few classes so have lots to share.
Keep warm.

Holiday

Hi All.
Sorry I haven't posted for a while.  I've been on holiday to lovely Southwold.  We managed to pick the week where we had fantastic weather.  Hope you like the photos.

Thought you might like to see some of the views from our balcony.
Enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

Guess where I've been?

To the seaside on holiday - back to Southwold in Suffolk.
 Yay.
And there was sunshine - well for 2 days anyway. We were very brave and went for a paddle - it was rather warm.
So here's a photo of the sun reflecting on the sea. It was really good.
Here's a view from the pier to our flat - just to the left of the lighthouse.
I may have had a glass of rose in my hand at this time LOL
Some cheeky seagulls.
I saw some great art too.
Some interesting mixed media art in the Buckingham Gallery.
And some very funny characters by Samantha Bryan. They make me smile soooo much.
So much fun.
I also managed to get out last night to the Leamington Spa Embroiderers Group meeting. A really friendly bunch of ladies. The thing I'm finding so appealing about embroidery is the variety of work produced.

The speaker was Kathleen Danswan - she gave a great talk on the influence Venice has had on her work. Her work was very interesting - but seeing her sketchbooks and hearing her speak about how the city had influenced her was fantastic. She was very generous and encouraged us all to come and have a look and feel of her work.
And finally - a huge thank you to you all for keeping with me as I blog - I promise I'll try and blog more often. Thanks for all the lovely kind words and messages - it's great to know you're all out there.
Take care and I'll be back very soon.

You may have wondered where I've been - well we've had a week away in Lyme Regis at a very cute cottage - 'Wren Cottage'.
It was on the little side (2 up and 2 down) - but what else do you need really. It was very near to the sea front and the centre of Lyme Regis.
I fell in love with this shop Susie Cole. It was beautiful inside - organised by colour theme. It was a great shabby chic shop. I loved it - so many beautiful things.
And Ginger Beer was full of great things for living outside; bug houses, weather stations, plant signs, bags and lots and lots of other lovely things.
There were also some great galleries - Blue Lias was one I really loved. A great variety of items and all a good range of prices so anyone could buy something.
And you can't go to Lyme Regis without going fossil hunting.... DH did have to be rather patient as I'm a but of a wuss on slippy surfaces - but we did get across the beach (even with one very wet foot). So here are some photos of our little session fossil hunting:

There had been a recent landslide so you couldn't get all the way across - but we did manage to find some ammonites.
Lyme Regis is a lovely place to visit and I'd certainly recommend a visit.
On the way home we thought we'd go the scenic way and managed to squeeze in a visit to the American Museum - to look at the quilts of course.
They've got some great quilts.
So now I'm back and looking forward to a lovely Bank Holiday weekend - hope you have fun too.

Holiday...

Hello all. Yes - I'm still around - just been away for a bit and I thought you might like to see some of the photos I took. So this is a photo I took from Pontcysyllte Aqueduct across to another one. It was so high and only narrow enough to get one canal boat across - the path next to it wasn't so great either.
What do you think to the artwork below? That was at the entrance.
This is just a great photo DH took - a great shape.

These two photos were taken at Copper Kingdom - some of you may have seen the site shown on the TV programme Coast. It was a great landscape - sort of lunar.

This is Beaumaris Castle - it was a beautiful sunny day as you can see and it's a great castle to look around.
And finally I took some lovely photos when we went to Penmon Priory - the water in the rock pools was so clear - and the seaweed was a great range of bronze colours.

I couldn't resist taking photos of the pebbles....
So - I'm back now and have enjoyed sewing now I've got back. I keep trying to tidy up my sewing room - but it's an uphill battle.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Holiday

Hi. I've caught up now from my holiday. So now I can tell you all about it.

The cottage with the green door is the one we stayed in - Stuckie Ben, Southwold. It was a lovely cosy cottage, with very steep stairs which can be a bit of a challenge when you have big feet. But we really liked it. It did have everything - all the mod cons needed.

Here's the view from the front door across to Walberswick - and it did flood there. Luckily we escaped the flooding and the only bit we had to avoid was the flooded A12.Here's the view from South Green down the hill to our cottage. As you can see we're right on the edge of the village.

An iconic view of Southwold - Gun Hill with the lighthouse in the background. The lighthouse is open in the summer and the view from the top is fantastic on a clear day. It's a bit hairy getting up there but well worth the effort.

And a another great view of Southwold - the Pier. It's been refurbished and is very smart.

Southwold is famous for its very expensive beach huts - a very English seaside thing to have. But as you can see the waves managed to bash this one to bits. There were a number that were in a similar state and about the same again that had shifted on their blocks.

Crashing waves on the promenade. This was on the Sunday (I think) and the worst of the weather had passed by but it was still rather rough. The sandy it you can see if the promenade - and should be nothing but concrete, you can seen how it's virtually covered in sand now.

Oh what a lovely shop this was - Noa Noa. A Danish clothes shop. Really great textiles and lots of good extra little design features.I would really recommend having a look in there if you get the chance - I think they have branches elsewhere in the UK.

Here's a great gallery. Lots of fun items. The Serena Hall Gallery.

Another f=really great gallery - The Buckenham Gallery - full of different types of art.
I can't praise this shop enough and the Heidi Pie was a real find. It's goats cheese, spinach and I think it was butternut squash. It was divine. I know I have a bit of a thing abouts Goats Cheese but even DH said it was great. Not too much pastry, nice and light and stuffed to the top with filling. Mmmmmmmm

And finally Nutters of Southwold. A really great shop with so much chocolate you could get high on the smell.

Well - I hope you like the photos of my holiday. We had a very relaxing time and only went out in the car for one day. We did get cold and wet a couple of times - but England on the East Coast in November I don't think i can really complain. The aim was to sit in pubs, read the paper, sit in the cottage and read or sew ( well you didn't think I'd leave my quilting at home did you LOL) and chill out. It was great.

New Project: plus an update Hello again! Yes it's only been just over a week and here's another blog post.  This might become...
